The Wildland Urban Interface:

Fire –Homes – Safety - Management

Have you ever wondered what might happen to your home in the event of a wildfire? Do you know that many homes built in our rural counties lie in areas prone to repeated and natural wildfires? The area adjacent to and surrounding your homes’ property is known as the Wildland Urban Interface. Understanding the basic definition of this area and what steps need to be taken to manage the forest cover in and around a WUI will be the topic of discussion at a workshop sponsored by the Northeast Washington Forestry Coalition. Come and join us at this free workshop scheduled for Thursday May 25 from 2-4pm at the Stevens County Conservation District Confrence room, 232 Williams Lake Rd. just north of Colville.

You will hear from presenters from the Colville National Forest and a retired Department of Natural Resources Fire expert on the insights of defining, living and managing a WUI area.
